DCS Software Upgrade 7.2.0 build 84

 

* System upgrade will take only a few minutes to complete and must be done on every computer running DCS software (1st workstation takes the majority of time to install.  Once the 1st workstation install is complete, you may begin working on that workstation)

 

Important:  **Close ALL open programs on ALL computers currently running DCS software prior to upgrade/install** If you are using DDX Client or Visa Gift Card, please close both programs if possible before starting the install.

 

 

 

 

If you are upgrading via CD, you will need to insert your upgrade CD into EACH computer in your store, and select “Install DCS software”.  ONLY IF YOU ARE UPGRADING BY CD- FIRST:

1)   Make sure DRL client is running

2)   Single left click on the DRL client icon in the lower right-hand program tray.

3)   Be sure you are connected to internet

4)   Click “Download Now”- this will update your license key.  Once DRL client states that the new license has been downloaded, you may disconnect from internet.

5) Repeat steps “6” and “7” for each computer-

6) Insert CD and select “Install DCS software”.

For upgrades received via internet, please continue.

 

 

 

 

Open any DCS application and type in your password as usual.

 

 

Before the normal menu appears, a pop-up window asks if you would like to upgrade to the newest release.

 

 

Run the install on the support station first.  The support station is the computer running DRL Client, DDX Client or Visa Gift Card Server.  If the install is not complete on the support station, click No here.  Move to the support station and begin the install there.

 

Otherwise, click Yes to continue with the upgrade.

 

 

 

Check that all DCS applications have been closed on all computers.  This includes DDX client and Visa Gift Card server.  Click Yes to continue.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Once all DCS applications are closed, click OK to continue.

 

 

 

It will take a few minutes as the Point of Sale System prepares the InstallShield Wizard.  Please wait.

 

 

 

Click Next to continue.

 

 

Read the software license agreement.  If you agree to the terms, click I accept the terms in the license agreement.  Then click Next.

 

 

A Custom install must only be done on the support station or standalone systems.

For reference, should ANY of the following icons appear on the computer screen, then a custom install must be accomplished.

For all other computers, choose Typical for the setup type.

 

 

Once Typical is chosen, click the Next button.

 

 

It will take a few minutes for Point of Sale to install.  Click Next once the button is enabled.

 

 

Congratulations.  You have successfully upgraded your DCS applications.  Click Finish to exit the wizard.

 

 

 

 

 

CUSTOM INSTALL

 

The custom install should be done on only ONE SPECIFIC computer in your store.

Click HERE  for details on which computer to do a Custom Install.

 

 

Choose Custom for the setup type and click Next to continue.

 

 

All DCS applications are chosen by default except for DCSNet and DDX Client.  To install either of these features, click on the red X next to the name.  Choose the first option in the list: This feature will be installed on local hard drive.

 

Click Next to continue.

 

 

It will take a few minutes for Point of Sale to install.  Click Next once the button is enabled.

 

 

 

Clicking Finish here does not complete the upgrade.  There are several scripts that may take several minutes to run.

 

 

Please be patient as screens like the one above run on your screen.  Once complete, the following message appears.

 

 

Click OK.  You have successfully completed the first workstation.

Repeat the above steps but select ‘Typical Install’ for the remaining workstations.

 

 

NOTE:  If you have not entered a license key into your pre-existing DCS software prior to this upgrade, you will be asked to enter a license key.  (This will be done only if you have never used the DCS software on your computer).  Please contact DCS technical support at (847) 498-9955 extension #2 to obtain your license key in order to access the software.
